Rialto was created in 1960 by James Barham to operate as a house-building contractor and with the expectation over time to become a developer in it’s own right.
The corporate philosophy from the early 1970’s was to develop high density first time buyer dwellings, particularly for the young. Since that time the company established an important presence in London and showed it’s diversity in not only catering for the first time buyer market but also expanding into the high spec, high value luxury apartment market. One of the company’s outstanding achievements was the redevelopment of the Paddington basin with the provision of 470 high specification apartments and considerable commercial space.
In 2004, at the age of 68 James sold the business to Fairview New Homes.
Nearly 10 years on from the sale Rialto has risen again in the form of Rialto Properties, this time headed by James’ younger son Paul.
Paul hopes to carry on using the philosophy and determination of his Father which made Rialto the well know name it is today.
